Give us a brief on your story as an artist so far!
I am a sixteen-year-old emerging music artist that goes by the stage name of
Rodin’ Flash. I produce mainstream EDM music using Ableton Live, and I am
also an aspiring actor with plans to breakout in the entertainment industry. In
addition, I am also a singer, and I enjoy singing songs of all genres.
In June of 2015, I released my debut EP, called the Royal EP, which consisted of five
songs, and contained Ready to Rumble. Since then, I continued to show my
love and passion by producing a new EP which came out on December 10,
2015. I released my third EP on March 19, 2017, with vocals featuring singers
like Three Guests, Ruben Hultman, HTHaze, Jared Halley, and more!
What would you say your goal as an influencer is?
My goal as an influencer is to reach and lift up as many people as possible
and let them know how important they are and that God made them beautiful
both inside and out. Dream Big because the sky is the limit!!!
What attracted you to EDM music over all other genres?
I just love the creativity aspect. Starting from writing the song to producing it. I am able to control everything about the song and am truly able to call it my own. From start to finish, it’s all me.
How do you go about creating a song? Do you have a set process or does it happen differently every time?
Usually what I do is start with a melody in my head and I’ll start by recording a sample of the song on Snapchat and save it to my phone. Then, I’ll write a draft of the lyrics on
my computer. Once that’s done I’ll come up with a simple instrumental, and then I’ll edit the lyrics to make sure it fully fits the instrumental. After that, I’ll go to the studio, record it, tweak the instrumental as necessary and add more stuff to the instrumental – drops, etc – and the voila! It’s done (and release ready!)!
You have a few artists collaborating on your recent tracks, including Alkache & Ruben Hultman. What was it like collaborating alongside people with different
It was amazing! You have totally different people with so many different styles and ideas coming together to make a song perfect. It’s unreal – all the insight that people bring to the table to help make the song you hear today.
Do you think collaborating with different artists is helpful when first starting out in the music industry?
Definitely! Collaborating with other artists who are starting out like you is a great way to grow in the industry. By working together, you guys are building a fan base as a group and helping each other learn the twists and turns of making music. Not to mention, by collaborating you learn things about making music that you may not have known before!
What would be your DREAM collaboration and do you have any key EDM artists that really inspired you to create your own music?
My dream collaboration would be with the Chainsmokers. They are definitely my biggest influence. Their music is super chill and you just want to put it on repeat all day long! That’s the type of music I try to make as well. Both Drew and Alex are super down to earth, humble, and kind to all their fans. It’s amazing how much they’ve grown in the last few years and how their music has inspired millions of people around the world.
Tell us what you’re currently working on. Do you have new music
or are you focusing on getting some gigs lined up?
I am currently working on my debut album! I am excited to announce the title and cover art of it very, very soon! I’ve been working so hard on it and putting in several months in the studio to perfect each and every song. It’s definitely a new style and vibe from my old music, and it’s something I am very proud of!
What are the main goals for the rest of 2018?
I would like to release more music, hopefully come out with a bunch of new albums. I would also like to go on tour and explore the world.
And lastly, you’re so young yet you have already created so much and are definitely on your way up within the industry… What advice would you give to anyone who is just starting out with EDM?
There are so many things I have learned about the entertainment and music industry and so many more things I have yet to learn. However, I think the biggest thing I have learned is to take every opportunity you are given no matter how big or how small. Everything happens for a reason, so it’s important to take every opportunity you can get. Also, it’s important that you love what you’re doing. If you don’t love what you do, then it’s important to find something that you do enjoy because, in the end, it’s
all about having fun!
