“It’s niche, not normal.”

Cites founder of clothing brand ‘SHOPFLOORWHORE’ Siobhan Hogan who studied Fashion & Textiles at Liverpool John Moores University. She goes on to tell us that her biggest inspiration is colour, usually basing a whole collection around a colour combo she has put together online and through real life searches.

With a new collection and new stockists on the horizon in 2019, Siobhan tells us:

“Our customer is usually fun, strong minded and open to banging out strong looks.”

When asked how Siobhan managed to kick start her fashion brand and if there had been many ups and downs she replied:

“Instagram was an integral tool in growing my brand. I used it to develop a customer base and an identity, as well as making sales. Like any small business, it has been a rollercoaster but I have learned a lot and its definitely made me stronger!”    

She further tells us that being able to sell on platforms such as ASOS Marketplace, WE KOKO and Depop are hugely important for young brands as they offer a chance to be seen by a huge audience. “These platforms, in particular ASOS Marketplace, are really focused on mentoring too – which is a huge benefit in growing communities and in making selling online more accessible to young labels.”

Lastly, we asked Siobhan if she could give us 3 different looks for 3 different occasions…

Any last words of wisdom for all our stylish gals out there thinking of building their own brand?

Just do it. Trust your own instincts and don’t get bogged down watching other peoples journeys. Focus on your own!
